Happy New Year.

It’s been way too long since I’ve posted on my blog. It’s been too long since I’ve posted any recipes and even longer since I’ve shared any exercise and/or health and fitness tips with all of you. Most importantly, it’s just been far too long since I’ve written anything. I have no valid excuse. I could tell you I’m busy, but that’s just a cop out. We are all as busy as we allow ourselves to be. I can’t stand when people use the excuse of “I’m so busy” as justification for not doing whatever it is they are supposed to be doing. If something is important to you then you make time for it. Simple as that. Some may disagree and you’re entitled to your opinion, but think about it for a minute. As busy as we all are in our lives, we still manage to find time for social media. Whether it’s 5 minutes scrolling through your Facebook feed or liking something on Instagram, saving something on Pinterest or conversing on Snapchat or whatever form of communication you choose to use to stay “connected”. Perhaps you have joined the thousands of others who have jumped on this “binge watching” bandwagon (guilty). Whatever your vice, we are guilty of it in some form or other. Truth is, we all have the same 24 hours in a day, we just choose to spend it differently. This brings me back to my case in point. Am I busy? Yes, and for this I am thankful. My days are filled with teaching yoga and most of my evenings are booked with either teaching, training clients or attending my daughter’s dance or son’s hockey. Am I so busy that I don’t have time to keep up with my blog? If I am being truly honest with myself, the answer is no.  There are just times when I want to relax and not do or think. That’s the brutal truth. But what happens is that what started out as something to do to relax, has now become a habit. Before I know it, in my “down” time, I find myself reaching for my iPad to watch my next Netflix show instead of opening up my dashboard to my blog, or more importantly, putting my pen to paper to start writing this book I have been wanting to write for years. I’m all about balance and don’t think I don’t enjoy my downtime just as much as the next person because believe me, I do! The difference now, however, is that I am asking myself to get my priorities in order and look at where I want to be this time next year and I know it’s not talking about how many shows I’ve managed to binge-watch on Netflix. This ends now! The next episode of Suits is going to have to wait just a little while longer… ;).

I have been so caught up in the physicality of my work that I have let this part of me go and I miss her. The part that sits in front of the computer (or current iPad) or a blank page and writes. With quiet surroundings, a warm cup of coffee or tea, and just letting my emotions spill on to the page or screen. I don’t really make resolutions cause I don’t like setting myself up for any potential failure. Instead, just like I teach to my students in every yoga class, I set intentions, and one of my intentions for 2017 is to write. Write in my blog, write in my journal, and begin writing my book. I feel this is going to be the year. It may not be the year my book gets published but I’m committing to letting this be the year my book gets started. There, I have said it and now I have just put it in writing for all of you to see, so there is no turning back. I hope you’re reading this Sonia Rollo because you’ve ignited the spark!

If there’s something you’re passionate about or there’s something you’ve been saying you want to do for a while, why wait any longer? Why not decide right here, right now, to let 2017 be your year?! Tomorrow isn’t promised and when you start living each day like it could be your last, your entire perspective changes. Your priorities change. Your life changes. It’s not about setting goals. It’s about setting your mind to what you want to do and then taking the action to get it done. It really is that simple. Good things don’t come to those who wait, they come to those who work their asses off to get it. How hard are you willing to work to get what you want? How badly do you want it? Your actions will dictate your response.

Until next time,

Have a fit and fabulous day!

Much love,
