I didn’t even know this type of food existed until I heard about them from Lettuce Love Cafe. Once I tried them I was hooked and as I have with many of their other delicious dishes, I searched for similar recipes to try at home, and these cauliflower wings were no exception. I found this recipe on the Mind Body Green website and it was just too easy to not give it a try. I must say that I was very pleased with the outcome and so was everyone else in the house ;)!
1 medium head cauliflower, chopped into bite size pieces
1/2 cup garbanzo bean flour (adds some protein punch to this dish but you can use any other type of flour of your choice)
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp melted butter or ghee
2/3 cup hot sauce (I use Frank’s Hot Sauce because it is vegan and doesn’t use sugar)
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, water, garlic powder, and salt. Whisk together until smooth.
- Toss cauliflower into garbanzo batter, making sure to coat each piece completely, then place battered cauliflower on a lightly greased, nonstick baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, tossing halfway through.
- In the meantime, combine melted butter and hot sauce in large bowl, regularly stirring. When cauliflower is done, remove it from the oven and gently toss it in the hot sauce mixture. Place cauliflower back on the baking sheet and cook for an additional 25 minutes until it becomes crispy. Allow cauliflower to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
